TABLE DEFINITION&MEANING

1.      Definition of tables

According to Wikipedia, a table is an arrangement of data in rows and columns or perhaps in a more complex structure. The exact conventions and terminology for describing tables vary depending on the context. Furthermore, tables differ significantly in variety, structure, flexibility, notation, representation, and usage.

 

2.      Function of tables

a) Provide concise and concise information

The first function of the table is that the table is used to explain a fact or information briefly and is more interesting than using words. In addition, tables also have a function, namely to support writers in conveying various ideas or ideas, so that they can influence and also convince readers.

b) Facilitate Readers

The next function of the table is that the table can provide convenience for the reader, because the data presented in the table has been arranged systematically, so that it is easier to understand. In addition, tables can also provide detailed information about changes.

There must be a change that occurs in a data, whether it is an increase or decrease in data, so it must be conveyed to the reader through the information listed in the table. Tables also have the function of providing readers with an overview which is presented in the form of neatly arranged numbers.

      c) Generalize Communication

The next function of the table is as a communication tool in which the table will allow an unlimited form of generalization of information from various types of social or scientific contexts. This in turn makes tables provide a more familiar way of conveying information that might not be obvious, so readers can more easily understand the information in tables. 

d) Explain the Facts 

Finally, tables have a function to explain facts. The table usually contains data in the form of information obtained from research, from other sources, and so on, of course the data and information in the table can be accounted for. 

Therefore, the data listed in the table is definitely a fact that will be explained and thoroughly discussed and understood by the reader.
