UNDERSTANDING SURVEYS
1. Definition
of survey
Survey
is defined as the act of examining a process or questioning a selected sample
of individuals to obtain data about a service, product, or process. Data
collection surveys collect information from a targeted group of people about
their opinions, behavior, or knowledge.
2. Function
of survey
The
uses of the survey include:
The
purpose of the survey is to present data from research objects, and to
interpret and analyze them systematically. The correctness of the information
depends on the method used in the survey.
a)
To obtain facts from existing phenomena;
b)
Seeking factual information from a group, area, etc.;
c)
Evaluate and compare things that have been done by other people in dealing with
similar matters;
d)
Conducted on a number of individuals/units either by census or by sample; and
e)
The results are for planning and decision making.
3. Expresssions & setences
used in survey
use
simple language that is easily understood by the target demographic. Make sure
the questions asked are clear, short, not long-winded, so they are easy to
understand. The quality of the questions in the survey questionnaire will
greatly determine the quality of the response answers which will certainly
affect the final results of the survey.
Another
thing to keep in mind in designing survey questionnaire questions is to avoid
bias in the questions. This can easily be done by avoiding including personal
opinion in survey questions. For example, when asking about the quality of
service at a hotel, don't start the question with a statement stating the
quality or certification of the hotel. This will make the respondent be biased
before answering the question.
It
is very important to use the most appropriate question types in designing
questions for a survey questionnaire. Some popular types of questions to use
are multiple choice, rating scales, and essays. The designer of survey
questionnaire questions needs to choose which type of question is most
appropriate to use so that respondents can easily submit their answers, in the
shortest time, and also do not forget to consider this in order to facilitate
the process of analyzing answers later. For example, it is highly recommended
to use “yes or no” question types as often as possible. This is because this
type of question not only makes it easier for the respondent to answer it, but
it will also facilitate the process of analyzing the answers at the end of the
survey process later.
4. Sample
of survey
Here
are some examples of surveys:
1.
Population Census. This survey was conducted by the Central Bureau of
Statistics.
2.
Community Satisfaction Survey. This survey is also called IKM (Community
Satisfaction Index), which is held by institutions or organizations such as
courts, pukesman, civil registry and others.
3.
Public Opinion Survey. It is an activity to find out people's opinions on
issues related to public problems, and this effort is carried out through a
study.
5. Types
of survey
Based
on the scope and subject matter, surveys can be classified into four
categories, namely:
1)
Census of tangible things
2) Census of things that are not real
(intangible)
3)
Survey samples of real things
4)
Survey samples of things that are not real

RESULT
Family
support is a form of interaction in which there is a relationship of giving and
receiving real assistance carried out by the family.
Family
support is also the most important element in providing assistance to
individuals in dealing with problems and increasing self-confidence.
Family
support has a strong influence on the quality of family life
namely
having a good impact on individuals in the family, such as increasing
health,
facilitating administrative procedures, supporting and maintaining members
other
families, and the availability of caregivers to provide support in the family.
From the results of the survey I asked six
questions which were answered by 27 people. In the first question there are 26
answers "YES" that their family accepts his physical condition as he
is and there is also 1 answer "NO" that the person's family does not
accept his physical condition as he is. In question number 2 there were 23
answers "YES" that their families said they were physically
attractive, 2 answers "NO" that their families did not say they were
physically attractive, 1 answer "normal", and 1 answer that was blank
without any explanation. In question number 3 there are 26 answers
"YES" that their family is very harmonious and 1 answer
"NO" that their families do not adjust. Question number 4 has 21
answers "YES" that the family supports every activity that is
participated in at school, 3 answers "NO" that the family does not
allow or support them in participating in activities at school, 1 answer
"if the activity is positive it is okay", 1 answer "my support
system", and 1 answer without explanation or blank. Question number 5 has
26 answers "YES" that his family always gives advice when they make
mistakes 1 person answers "NO" that he has never been given advice
from his parents when they make mistakes. In the last question there are 24
answers "YES" that the family supports what they aspire to, 1 answer "there
will be no family without
support
him do that
good",
1 answer "Sometimes", and 1 answer without explanation or blank.
Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that family support can improve physical health, management, stress reactions, productivity, and psychological well-being and adaptability.
